  SNOW OR STORM CANCELLATIONS

If it is necessary to cancel Religious Education classes due to inclement weather the notice will happen in three ways:
1.  The classroom teacher will contact each child's parent using the phone number provided on the registration form
2.  It will be announced at all the Masses
3.  It will be announced on this website.
Parents should always use their best judgment when considering transporting children during inclement weather.

  ATTENDANCE POLICY
Regular, consistent attendance at all class sessions is encouraged and should be the norm for all of our religious education students. We grow in knowledge and love of God as we get to know and believe what the Catholic Church teaches.
An excused absence (e.g. illness, family emergency) is one in which a parent telephones the Religious Education Office ahead of time with the reason for the absence, or writes a note to the Religious Education Office the week following the absence.
Students who have missed more than 1/3 of their scheduled classes will have the option of completing the work at home over the summer months.

  ENCOURAGING APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR
BASIC GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS
Parent are encouraged to bring their children to Religious Education classes on time.  It is important for the smooth operation of the program that every effort is made to get children to classes earlier than the specified time. We request that they remain with the child until the catechist has arrived. Please accompany your child to the appropriate classroom to be sure that an adult is there to supervise them.
Parent are required to pick up their children in the building at the end of the class section.  Please be on time so that our volunteer catechists can go home to their families. If an emergency causes a delay, please make alternate provisions for your child and notify us as soon as possible.
If your child needs to be dismissed from class early we request that you let us know before class begins in order to alert your child's catechist.  Please let us know the time that you need to pick up your child so that there is a minimum of disruption to others in the classroom.
Please do not send your child to class with toys or electronic devices such as beepers and cell phones.  Toys from home cause disruption and prevent meaningful learning. Despite having this policy last year students continued to use them in class.
All children are encouraged to be attentive, respectful, and considerate of themselves and others in the classroom.  No volunteer catechist is expected to manage a class in which even a single child is disruptive. For the sake of the teacher, the rest of the class, and the individual child, he/she will be sent to talk with Mrs. Delahanty. Any student who finds it difficult to be cooperative in class after repeated warning will be sent to the office to place a phone call to parents to pick up their child.
If a child is feeling ill, parents will be notified so that they may pick up their child as soon as possible.

  WEEKEND MASS
Parents are urged to accompany their children to one of our weekend Masses. Masses in our parish are celebrated on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m.
Attendance at Sunday Mass is the most important part of our religious education process, and it is the center of our faith lives. His Word and His Body and Blood nourish us. It is when Christ nourishes us, that we can then go and nourish others.

PROBLEMS IN A CLASSROOM OR IN THE PROGRAM
If the problem is within a particular classroom or with a specific catechist, parents are asked to first speak directly to catechist to find assistance in solving the problem. Parents are asked to telephone the Religious Education Office at 603-635-1447 if there is any serious problem or dissatisfaction with any part of the program.

  BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES

STUDENTS: We encourage all religious education students to be attentive, respectful and considerate of themselves and others in the classroom.
CATECHISTS: Teachers on all grade levels are asked to work with the religious education students on rules of loving and respectful behavior for the classroom.
PARENTS: When children are disruptive to their classroom peers, parents will be asked to come to the Religious Education Office to pick up their child. If the behavior continues, parents will be asked to teach their child at home.
