Where Has Summer Gone???
You may have heard me state before that I once had a pastor who believed that after the 4th of July summer was over. However, with all of this heat, many of us are probably wondering (and some may be praying) . . . when will it end?
The celebration of seasons is a big thing for all of us in the New England area. However, seasons should be a very spiritual thing for us as well. From the moment of our existence, when God created the heavens and the earth, our lives were set into motion. We all know the story . . . for six days He created and one day He rested. Do you realize which was the most important day? It was (and is) the seventh . . . the Sabbath.
In the land of Egypt, when the Hebrew people were enslaved, the worth of one's existence was measured by the amount of bricks that one stacked in seven days. However, once the Hebrew people were finally set free, the worth of one's existence was measured by what was actually accomplished on the seventh day.
The importance of the seventh day remains with us today. You see . . .it is on the seventh day that we "recharge" our batteries and reflect upon our lives, thus, we continue with His plan . . . building (with faith, not with bricks) a stronger relationship with God and with self.
How many people echo time and time again . . . I don't have time for rest or vacation? Well, they are wrong! The Sabbath is the greatest season that we celebrate and, without this celebration, our lives would be forever incomplete.
Happy summer . . . it's not over!
