Missionary Cooperative Plan
St. Francis of Assisi Parish in San Francisco de La Paz, Olancho, Honduras, serves three towns (San Francisco, Manto, Guarizama). Though not the largest parish population wise, it is one of the largest in the area.
There are delegates of the Word who preside at weekly celebrations and, when possible, one of the two priests visit for the celebration of the Eucharist. In a pastoral letter from 1997, the Bishops of the United States wrote of a “. . .Church that transcends national boundaries and calls us to live in solidarity with the peoples of the world . . . A parish reaching beyond its own members and beyond national boundaries is a truly catholic parish."
This weekend we will have the opportunity to strengthen our identity and deepen our solidarity with the Church beyond our borders as we welcome the Rev. Daniel St. Laurent, who will be with us to speak on the Mission of the Church in the Diocese of Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras.
